Rhode Island College’s Pride Alliance is back with their annual Pride Week: a four day long series of events centered around supporting the LGBTQ+ community on and off campus. Set to take place April 15–19, Pride Alliance has scheduled two events designed to celebrate queer pride.

Campus’s popular Sex Toy Bingo will be returning April 16, courtesy of Pride Alliance. Bingo with a twist, the possible prizes feature sex toys and the like to advocate for comfortable conversations surrounding safe sex and pleasure. Last year’s event, wherein guests were welcomed into an open and non-judgemental environment, proved to be a success. This year, those interested can attend Sex Toy Bingo in Gaige 100 at 7 p.m. Reusable cards will be sold at the door: one card for $2 or three for $5.

Pride Prom returns this year with a new theme: disco. In collaboration with RIC’s radio station, 90.7 WXIN, Pride Alliance plans to host a blowout to end the semester right. Admission is free with access to free food, music, karaoke and a photo booth. Pride Prom will take place Thursday, April 18, from 7–11 p.m. in the student union ballroom. Everyone is welcome to attend and while there is no dress code, dressing on the theme of disco is encouraged, so break out your bell bottoms and Gogos and prepare to dance the night away.

Pride Alliance advocates for a safe and welcoming campus environment in which queer students, friends and loved ones can celebrate their individuality comfortably. RSVP to both events using the link in Pride Alliance’s Instagram bio and stay tuned for updates on upcoming events.

Also, be on the lookout for The Anchor’s donation box at both events to donate to The Trevor Project: an organization focused on the mental health and suicide prevention of queer youth. Those interested can also visit our page in collaboration with The Trevor Project to donate to them directly. The donation box will be found at different student organizations’ events throughout April alongside a flier with a QR code linked to the same page.

Support LGBTQ+ members this April with Pride Alliance and friends as community support should surpass June.
