On my mind

Today I thought of you, eyes red and tired

Sitting in my car crying, the rain falling

You enter my fragile mind, spotting an opening

And you take it, crushing me underneath

My brain can never be rid of you, it seems

You occupy my thoughts at every turn

Everyone says to let it go, let it pass

But they weren’t there that day in science class

I know you’re miles and miles away

And I am finally safe

But what you did will always stay

Your hold on me remains

I see your face everywhere, in everything

Your cruel smile, always there in my mind

In my nightmares, I defeat you, I’m the hero

But in the real world, there’s no such thing
