The bats continue to fire as Anchormen baseball captures their 21st win on the season overall and sits at 21-7-1 and 8-2 in conference play. Throughout each game, every player contributes to the game at hand. Currently leading the way is new Freshman transfer Daniel Trzepacz. Trzepacz was a transfer this year coming from a Division 1 school in the University of Delaware and is leading the team right now in batting averages with a .440, 51 hits, 5 home runs and 36 RBI and counting.
"I just try and repeat what I did the day before and make it better and it helps even more with the group of players we have on this team," Trzepacz mentions in a post-game interview.
Throughout the previous three games the team has played, they scored over ten runs in every match. Slowing them down a little most recently on the road was Eastern Connecticut, the team they are continuing to battle with for the number one seed in the conference. Eastern Connecticut is now 26-3 and 11-1 in the conference after the Anchormen gave them their first conference loss of the season on the road this past Saturday. In that doubleheader matchup, the Anchormen won game one 2-1 in a close one and couldn't seem to keep up the pace for game two after getting blown out 15-3.
A slow day at the plate for almost the entire lineup as the Anchormen take game one in a nail biter. In the 2-1 victory, Senior Jarrad Grossgoth in the 4th inning belted a shot into left field sending Sophomore Cal Parrillo headfirst into home plate for an Anchormen run to tie. Taking the lead and concluding the match in the same inning, Sophomore Justin Wardwell popped up a pitch advancing Senior Joey Coro over onto third base while Grossgoth scored for a 2-1 Anchormen lead.
Game two would come in Eastern Connecticut getting their revenge, smoking the Anchormen in a 15-3 massacre. The bats would cool down in the second-half stretch of the game while Eastern Connecticut jumped on the opportunity. They still hold the one seed in the Little East conference while RIC sits at 3rd.
