90.7 WXIN for Palestine: radiothon and showcase

Rhode Island College’s radio station, 90.7 WXIN, returns this October with a 24-hour radiothon and showcase for charity in collaboration with campus’s Rhode Island College Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). In recognition of the now year-long genocide in Palestine, all proceeds from Radiothon and the Oct. 11 Showcase will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).

Founded in 1991, the PCRF is an organization working to provide free medical care to children in Palestine. Since the siege on Palestine began Oct. 7 2023, the PCRF has been in overdrive assisting children and their families. The organization’s mission to “provide medical and humanitarian relief collectively and individually to children throughout the Levant, regardless of their nationality or religion” has been a lifeline for Palestinian youth for upwards of 30 years and is needed now more than ever.

RIC’s own 90.7 WXIN, celebrated on campus for their live music events, is prepared to be on air for a 24-hour long Radiothon for Palestine beginning Oct. 10 at 4:00 p.m. and ending Oct. 11 at 4:00 p.m. The stream will begin strong with an introduction by SJP who consulted with 90.7 WXIN members in choosing the PCRF as a charity to trust. After, Radiothon will feature music and podcasts from radio station staff for the next day to countdown to their annual charity showcase.

Showcase for Palestine will feature live music from three bands ready to rock out at RIC for charity. Fat Moose, Marble House, and Morning Shower will be performing on the Beestro stage with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. and music beginning at 7:30 p.m. Audience members will be able to enter a raffle from Providence’s Fete Music Hall to win tickets to see Paw Paw Rod  in concert. To attend the event, entry for all will be $5 in support of the PCRF.

90.7 WXIN would like to credit SJP for their assistance in making this year’s charity event a reality. Through their collaboration, RIC students have the opportunity to make change overseas.

Join 90.7 WXIN and SJP to stand strong for Palestine this October. If you can not make it to Showcase but still want to show your support, tune into Radiothon on Twitch to find out how you can donate.
